Nathaniel Tarn is a poet, translator, ciritic, editor & anthropologist with some 35 books and booklets in these disciplines. The latest are Selected Poems 1950-2000 (Wesleyan University Press), The Embattled Lyric: Essays & Conversations in Poetics & Anthropology (Stanford University Press) and Scandals in the House of Birds: Shamans & Priests on Lake Atitlan (Marsilio Publishers NYC and L' Harmattan, Paris). He is a birdwatcher, gardener and amateur aviation historian. In the last three years, he has worked in Indonesia, the Philippines, Sarawak, New Guinea and Australia. He lives N.W. of Santa Fe, New Mexico.
