Scott Withiam has taught Writing and Literature at Vermont College's Undergraduate Program, The Massachusetts Maritime Academy, Western New England College, and Bristol Community College. He also co-edited The Onset Review. His poems have appeared in The Beloit Poetry Journal, Harvard Review, Massachusetts Review, The Notre Dame Review, Ploughshares, The Sun, Third Coast, Willow Springs and elsewhere. He was the 1997 winner of The Sandhills Review's Ronald H. Bayes Poetry Prize, the 1998 winner of New England Writers' Robert Penn Warren Award, the 2001 winner of Two Rivers Review Poetry Prize, the 2002 co-winner of Inkwell Magazine's Poetry Competition, the 2004 recipient of the Ploughshares Cohen Award and winner of the Two Rivers Review Chapbook Contest. His first book, Arson & Prophets, came out with Ashland Poetry Press in fall 2003. Desperate Acts and Deliveries, the chapbook, came out in the fall of 2004.
