Heroism, Self-Love and the Elegy

Kevin Clark
earned both his M.A. in Creative Writing (1979) and his Ph.D. in Literature
(1986) at UC Davis. A recipient of the Cal Poly Distinguished Teaching
Award, he teaches poetry writing and modern and contemporary American
literature. Kevin's full-length collection of poetry In the Evening
of No Warning (New Issues Poetry and Prose) was chosen by the Academy
of American Poets for a publishers grant from the Greenwall Fund.
His poems have appeared in numerous magazines and collections, including
The Antioch Review, The Georgia Review, College English,
and The Black Warrior Review. He has published three chapbooks:
One of Us (Mille Grazie Press, 2000), Widow Under a New
Moon (Owl Creek Press, 1990), and Granting the Wolf (State
Street Press, 1984). His critical prose has appeared in many journals
and collections, among them The Iowa Review, Papers on Language
and Literature, The Southern Review, and Contemporary Literary
Criticism.
