POEMS

Stephanie Bolster’s “The Japanese Pavillion,” variation two

above laughing, the first poem, lovely;
cherry limbs

over the wall, cellophane-wrapped,
blank character

i only said

what if the sky were a scroll,
my heart lurched again

the kneeling summer glory

a few hours, my private rooms,
my garden

i have never been

the end is a beginning
