Cecilia
Schmidt has exhibited her paintings, scuptures and photographs
in New York, Arizona, New Mexico, and Germany. She has also collaborated
on site-specific public works with architects, and her design was
chosen as a finalist in the New England Holocaust Memorial Competition
in Boston, Massachusetts.
Her photographs are tableaux that she paints and contructs using a
variety of natural and found objects. She refers to them as “narrative
fictional photographs,” that she uses to explore memory,
myth, and her relationship to the natural world.
Cecilia Schmidt is a native of Louisville, Kentucky. She received
her BFA and MFA from Arizona State University, and later attended
The International Center for Photography in NYC. She lives and works
in Brooklyn, NY.
