Kate Light
is the author of The Laws of Falling Bodies (Story Line Press, 1997 Roerich Prize), Open Slowly (Zoo Press, 2003), and the text
and poems of Oceanophony, a full-length concert piece for children (PollyRhythm Records, 2004). Her work has appeared in The Paris Review, Hudson Review, Dark Horse, Washington Post Book World, Rattapallax, Feminist Studies, Carolina Quarterly, and the anthologies Poetry Daily: 366 Poems from the World's Most Popular Poetry Website, Garrison Keillor’s Good Poems II (2005), and The Penguin Book of the Sonnet, among other publications. She has taught at Hunter College, Cornell University,
and the Musashino Art University in Tokyo, and recently contributed lyrics to Disney’s Mulan II.
She is also a professional violinist.
