Jennifer Ferraro, MA is a poet, artist and
performer who teaches writing at the University of New Mexico. She
is the author of the book of poems, Divine Nostalgia (2002).
In 2004 she co-directed a multimedia spoken word, dance and music
performance called Intimate Distance, which choreographed her
poems and featured an ensemble of dancers and musicians. She is currently
working with Latif Bolat on a forthcoming translation of Turkish Sufi
poets entitled Quarreling With God: Mystic Songs of the Dervishes
of Turkey . She is a student of the Sufi path and has studied
Buddhism in depth. She has long been a lover of mystical poetries
and is particularly interested in creating new forms of mystical poetry
responsive to the spiritual dilemmas and cultural conditions of our
times.

Latif
Bolat
is one of the most distinguished Turkish musicians in America. His
concert and lecture itinerary has taken him all over America, Canada,
England, New Zealand, Australia, Bulgaria, Indonesia and Turkey. His
repertoire focuses on the traditional folk and Sufi mystic music of
Turkey, which is based upon poems by ancient Sufi dervishes. He is
a native of the Turkish Mediterranean town of Mersin and has resided
in the US for more than twenty years. He has performed and lectured
at hundreds of performing arts centers, cultural centers, universities
and museums across the US. In addition he has composed soundtrack
music for George Lucas Studios TV series “Young Indiana Jones” and
the recent PBS documentary “Mohammed: Legacy of a Prophet.” He is
currently working with poet Jennifer Ferraro on a forthcoming translation
of Turkish Sufi poets entitled Quarreling with God: Mystic Songs
of the Dervishes of Turkey.
