The Pieces
for Computer and User are
interactive audio works created with inspiration from the compositional
approaches of the 20th century composers Edgar Varese and Morton
Feldman. The pieces consist of groups of buttons, each of which
triggers the onset of a simple arrangement of single tones.
The interplay between the tones is determined by each user,
so the pieces are never the same twice. In "Three Loops,"
each button triggers a loop which plays continuously once the
button is rolled over. Since each button triggers a loop of
different length, the interplay between the tones is constantly
evolving as the synchronization between the loops changes over
time.
