On my desk are two photographs of bronze sculptures
created by Chiricahua Apache sculptor Allan Houser.
The first is the larger than life-size singer in Morning Prayer.
I know of no other sculpture that expresses so eloquently
the significance of the beginning of each day.

Beside the photograph
are the words that begin Sioux Chief Yellow Hawk's
morning prayer.
