The Stranger

Who will take me in? I keep tooting my horn
On arriving in Dhaka City.

Amidst the hustle and bustle of hundreds of porters
I was feeling harried.

While between Sadarghat and Jinjira the Buriganga
Ceaselessly flowed on.

Flinging the dock’s soul on the river’s bosom
I looked before me.

Day went and night came; towards Fatulla I swerved
Having mastered the river’s mantra.

Saying, “none will find me ever,”
I’ll now disappear!
