Featuring an electrifying lineup of performers and a packed house, Drunken Boat launched its tenth anniversary issue at the SoHo20 Chelsea Gallery on Friday, July 10th, 2009. The event featured readings and short films, including Rand Richards Cooper dyspeptic adventures as a travel writer south of the border, Elisabeth Subrin’s 2-channel experimental adaptation of Michelangelo Antonioni’s unrealized script, “Technically Sweet” (written in the ’60s but never produced) and Sharon Dolin’s linguistically brilliant and darkly comic forays into the splintering of a marriage, among other terrific performances. The staff of Drunken Boat is happy to report that all of the wine, liquor and spicy Indian nut mix was consumed and no pieces of art were broken in the making of the event.
